Vintage Trucker Vest
4.3/5 Star reviews
Description
This piece belongs to the Prescribed Shelter Archives — a collection of one-of-one garments, reconstructions, and experiments produced outside of our standard release cycle. These are not repeated styles. Each piece exists as a single, finished work.
This vest began as a vintage denim trucker jacket, selected for its natural wear, fading, and character. The sleeves were removed to reframe the silhouette into a lighter, more functional vest — shifting the garment from outerwear to utility layer.
The base denim shows a mix of original aging and studio intervention. We selectively bleached the jacket to lift contrast and expose depth already present in the fabric, then distressed further only where the material called for it. Much of the wear was already earned through time.
The interior paneling features a custom boro-style patchwork quilt constructed from a curated selection of blue paisley scarves and bandanas collected over years. Each textile was cut, arranged, and sewn together by hand, creating a layered interior that balances protection, texture, and pattern.
Original hardware was removed and replaced with Prescribed Shelter branded rivets and buttons. A branded leather patch was burned and finished by hand to match the battered character of the garment rather than refining it away. Internal labels were added to complete the reconstruction.
This is an upcycled piece rooted in preservation — a familiar form rebuilt through material history, not trend.
